Choosing the Right Marble Table for Your Decor

A marble table fits beautifully into any decorating scheme and with any color you’ve chosen for your home. Whether you like your space to reflect a modern, sleek atmosphere or a warm, traditional feel, you’ll find that a marble table will fit in perfectly, working well with your overall look. It’s actually quite practical to choose the color of the marble that you love most and want to live with, and then decorate the room around it.

Before you buy, make sure of the measurements of the room where the table will stand. Check to see that you can get the table through all the doorways leading to your dining room and that the table is a good fit in the room. Sometimes a table in the store can look perfect, but when you get it home, it doesn’t work. You can use the old trick of laying down newspapers on the floor, in exactly the position you want your table to be. In this way, you can easily see how it fills the space. Remember to include extra room for the chairs.

A darker marble can make a large room look smaller; a lighter colored table will help to make a smaller room look bigger. Do you want the room to feel warmer or cooler? Consider going with a white or light marble if you want a more formal feeling in the room, a darker grey or brown if you’d like to have a more traditional, classic feel.

In deciding on a color and pattern, be aware that if the marble you love has an intricate pattern, you might want to simplify the rest of the décor in the room so that the table doesn’t fight with the rest of the decorations.

If you’re looking to create a modern, sleek look, black marble would be a good choice. Dark marble does a great job at hiding dirt, so if that’s a concern, keep it in mind. Conversely, white or pink marble will show grime, so care must be taken to be diligent with maintenance. If you like a Southwest, or California style, think about a pale brown marble. It’s light and lively and brings a little bit of nature inside. Maybe you want a traditional time-honored look, in which case, white might be your number one choice.

Before you move the marble table into your room, be sure that the flooring you want is in place. Once you position the table, you won’t want to have to have it moved. To finish your room, choose a paint that compliments the marble; because marble often contains such a variation of colors, you’ll have many options to choose from.
